Who we are
Rate Chaser (ratechaser.co.uk) is run by Ram Chunilal, a sole trader based in the UK ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal information described here. Contact us about privacy at hello@ratechaser.co.uk.
What you enter in our tools
Our tools, including the FSCS checker and the savings planner, work entirely in your web browser. The details you enter, such as banks, balances, tax band or date of birth, are not sent to us or anyone else.
- The FSCS checker doesn't save anything. Close or reload the page and what you typed is gone.
- The savings planner saves your details in your browser's storage on your device, so they're there when you come back. Anyone using the same browser can see them. You can delete them with "Delete all my data" in the planner's settings, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Because this information never reaches us, we can't see, lose, share or sell it.
Information we do handle
Visiting the website
Our website is hosted and protected by Cloudflare. Like any website, delivering pages means Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and when. This is used to run the site and keep it secure (for example, against attacks), on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website. Cloudflare acts on our behalf and keeps this information only for as long as it needs to for these purposes.
When you email us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and your message. Emails to our address are forwarded by Cloudflare's email routing service to the inbox we use. We use your message only to reply and to fix anything you've reported, on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you. We delete correspondence when we no longer need it, and at the latest two years after we last hear from you.
Cookies
We don't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. The savings planner uses your browser's storage only to keep the details you've entered, which you ask for by using it, so it doesn't need your consent.
Who else sees your information
Only the services that run the site and our email for us: Cloudflare (hosting, security and email routing) and our email provider. Cloudflare may process information outside the UK; where it does, it uses safeguards approved under UK data protection law. We never sell your information or share it with banks, advertisers or anyone else.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to have it moved to another organisation. To use any of these rights, email hello@ratechaser.co.uk. We'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or call 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change happens.
